The end of April 2010 Statistics for the county of Maui in the state of Hawaii

According to Realty Trac dot com there is a total of 2164 pre and post foreclosure properties in the county of Maui.

421 REO Bank Owned 16 of them being high profile properties

Pre Foreclosures 217 pieces

Auctions Pending 954 pieces

That’s 1171 pieces that are to be auctioned off in the not so distant future

A total of 1592 pieces that will be owned by the banks REO's

The MLS statistics look like this.

Across the board; Single family, condominium, land and commercial added all together.

2896 pieces of inventory for sale today

REO: 63 pieces

Short Sale: 235 pieces

Straight Sale:1685

Pending Sales:554

REO:71

Short Sales:232

Straight sales:167

So we can average that about 10% of the short sales go all the way through and get accepted by the lien holders and close.

MLS Inventory Short Sale not pending still active 235 pieces with the ability to close 10%, 24 pieces that leaves 211 pieces going to the foreclosure auction. In Pending were talking 232 pieces. That leaves 209 pieces going to the Auction of foreclosure. Leaving a total of 420 pieces going to Foreclosure!!

So we have been talking about the known factors, the facts we have presented in front of us. What about the invisible factors? The people not talking to us! The folks under the wires? The people who I know that have lived mortgage free for over 12 months and their unit has NOT showed up in the statistics. What about the loan modifications? The grey inventory, the shadow inventory!? Where is it today? What will these add up to?

These facts show us that there is a probability 420 pieces in the MLS that will foreclose by auction. There are 421 bank owned pieces according to realty trac dot com. In the MLS we can account for 134 REOs We are missing 287 REO’s that banks have title to. We know there are 1171 to be taken back through foreclosure Total them up: 2299

That’s 2299 pieces of forth coming inventory. That is equal to 80% of our current MLS listing inventory.

Will the inventory grow? Will the foreclosures be absorbed from buyers? Is it the right time to buy? Are you going to get a good deal? Is supply higher then demand? Are interest rates low enough? Can you qualify for a loan? Do you have cash?

I am a fan.

I ran into a band last month called the Mobius Project, they’re young, vibrant and full of promise. It’s been years since I have met a band with such potential. The last time a ran into a band so motivated to play and record was 1995 Melt-Banana from Tokyo Japan. The Mobius Project emote the same energy, and thus creating the same feelings I had for Melt-Banana, they just want to play their music, they’re nice people and they don’t let drugs, drinking and pussy get in the way. They’re not a caliber of band that can play all genres, yet they have uniqueness to them. The guitarist has similarities of Duane Denison physically and musically, though he (Jeremiah Demster) has a long way to go to be as good as Duane, The drummer (Dan Bell) is affluent in raw emotion, his seeds have been planted, now watch him develop into a super drummer, the vocalist (Alison Coffey) has a charm to her in the way of early Blondie and Patty Smith, a feeling of untarnished and boisterous lyrical delivery. This band is worth watching develop, they live together, work together, eat together and play music together. They do everything they are supposed to do. It’s obvious they love what they are doing. This band has a long road ahead of them, originally form the east coast, now settled on south Maui, Kiheiside of the island, I am here to watch and to be a fan. These young folks are going to strike their music message on the world. If there is any band from Maui that I would tell people to check out, give the Mobius Project a listen. They’re going be around our little scene, come out and support them. They’re on Myspace, FaceBook, twitter, youtube. Check them out!

This is getting over whelming and consuming my day, I may cut back on the cross referencing and go straight forward with action to the lien holder. Today up at Hoapili Hale it was real busy five Realtors, three loan officers, several attorneys, three auctioneers were all there and about 15 bidders, by far the busiest day I have seen at the court house steps in quit awhile on the island of Maui. Lets start with the postponements, there were 30 + postponed foreclosures. The only one I was interested in was 8 Maunaleo street in Wailuku, this has been postponed, that's a sweet house. It's currently listed MLS#338278 with Rex Kriekenbeek of Realty Executives of Maui, a 4 bedroom 3 bathroom 2279 square feet of living space built in 2005 this is one to watch.

With the hurricane looming, slowly creeping upon us I think the county is playing it safe this morning. At 10:33am there were no foreclosures listed for Monday August 10th 2009. At noon when I went up to the county building there were two postponements. The following foreclosures have been postpone.

The Hawaiians have moved into to old Wailuku and they will be having a blessing, the old Emura jewelery is now going to be two different run Hawaiian shops. One being art, music, tea and Coffee, the other being natural Hawaiian artifacts. This will be the first time the road gets shut down from Main street to Vineyard street. Time to party down on Market street. This is promising to be our best turn out, weather permitting. Sing Sing Laugh Laugh will be playing at the Maui Time Weekly open court yard. You bet were going laugh out loud. The blessing takes place right at 6pm so we'zn going to be real quite until their all pau. The all ages Aloha Poetry Slam will be happening at the food court. Come out and drink and dance, have fun, push your baby around in a stroller, meet and greet the folks you like in old Wailuku.

With great sadness we have to announce that Gallerie Ha in Wailuku will be taking a sabbatical (not known for how long?). The first Fridays have been our passion for the past year and a half. Pat has given many bands (young and old) a chance to play and many guest artist (the Mayor, council members, news writers) a place to express themselves. The first Fridays will continue this is a Maui county community event. Gallerie Ha's level of participation has been halted. The new neighbor has complained about the music and has called the land lord, there was no working out a compromise or a solution. The neighbor had threaten to call the police, call the county and then physical hurt me. I was never once involved in any conversation or communications it's all so silly. Pat has made an executive decision to remove her self from the heated anger of neighbor. There for sharing her art gallery with a friend of hers who will host a woman's dress shop in 2/3 of the shop and Pat will remain the artist, author, curator, play write, poet, singer in the back 1/3 of the Gallery. This is such a disappointing event of violent communications, demands and threats. Pat is talking to the business owners and the Waiuku first Friday association about having Aloha Poetry slam (youth poetry) and bands in another venue. We contemplating a move to Oahu, such an event shows the close minded personalities of a little town. The bands who have played Gallerie Ha have been of all ages, for some of the bands this was the first gig. The Aloha Slam "an all ages poetry slam" had strength and was growing, the teens from Happy Valley and Waikapu were coming around for many months and now they will have lost their plateau of expression. If we could have found a resolution or come to a mutual agreement we would have continued the poetry slam and lite music, there was no compromise on their side. So for now Gallerie Ha will not host any live acts on first Fridays, be that music or poetry, we were order to have no amplification whats so ever, including a PA for spoken word. Hawaii now ranks 30th nationally, up 12 places from this time last year

The number of Hawaii homeowners who received foreclosure notices nearly tripled in January from a year ago, and the number is likely to keep growing, according to a nationwide survey released yesterday by RealtyTrac.

Hawaii reported 337 foreclosure filings in January, which amounts to one foreclosure filing per every 1,504 households. That is down 32 percent from December but up a staggering 174 percent from the same month in 2008, when foreclosures had a more limited footprint throughout the islands.

"There are a lot of variables out there, but our expectation is that there will be a pretty high level of foreclosures at least through the middle of this year and likely longer," said Daren Blomquist, RealtyTrac's marketing communications manager.

While Hawaii's rate of foreclosure growth is still low in comparison with places like Nevada where one in every 76 homeowners is in foreclosure, the increase catapulted the state to No. 30 nationally for activity. In January 2008, Hawaii was ranked No. 42 out of 50 states.

While just less than half of the foreclosure activity took place in Honolulu, homeowners on the Big Island and Maui made up about a quarter of the activity, and those on Kauai accounted for about an eighth.

Wow, look at it all you can see Rock & Roll, Hawaiian, Heavy Metal, Punk, Art rock and have drinks and pupu's, get those dancing feet a happening to any kine music all with in two blocks in the quaint little old town of Wailuku.

Howz it? I picked this Mango at Obaban house in Lahaina, It was very high on the tree and if we don't pick them then people steal them from Gram ma she is 100 years old now. Can you believe people steal form her? I know it's just plane rude.

By now you've heard from somebody who knows somebody who got a great deal on a foreclosed property. But when you buy a house, you're also buying into a neighborhood. And foreclosures tend to be bunched in areas where residents and speculators alike took out exotic mortgages to get into homes they subsequently found they couldn't afford. That's not a recipe for stability. Prices and quality of life could both decline further.

Similarly, avoid developments that popped up in the past few years. They too likely have a lot of owners with risky loans and little equity, says Mike Larson of Weiss Research. Instead, go for areas with highly rated schools. They generally fare better during downturns, and that pattern is holding today, according to a recent study by real estate site Trulia.com.

Work will close Wailuku block

WAILUKU — One block of North Market Street between Wells and Main streets will be closed from Sunday morning until daylight Monday for construction work on the Market Street improvement project.

The next block east, between Main and Vineyard streets, is being blocked from time to time at night, Sundays through Thursdays, until the middle of May as part of the same project.

The contractor, Diversified Machinery Inc., is asking motorists to be alert and to use detours.

From 9 a.m. Sunday until 6 a.m. Monday, Market will be completely closed, but Wells and Main streets will remain open. Motorists should anticipate delays.

Continuing work on the block that includes Iao Theater will require occasional street closings. Motorists will have to detour to High Street or Central Avenue to go east. They can then turn onto Vineyard to pick up North Market to get to Waihee.

The reading will be again in Hawaiian and English and include Hawaiian immersion students, this time from Lahainaluna High School. WAILUKU — State Public Safety Director Clayton Tom will provide an update on his agency’s plans for a new correctional facility on Maui during a meeting of the Governor’s Maui Community Advisory Council at 5 p.m. Thursday in the Cameron Center Auditorium.

Tom will discuss a proposed construction timetable and programs that will be implemented at a new correctional center.

The meeting is open the public. Anyone requiring special accommodations to participate in the meeting should call 243-5796 for assistance.

Triple A says Maui is the first region in the nation to reach $4 a gallon for Regular Unleaded.

You'll pay $4.08 at the Shell Station and more than $4 a gallon as well at this Chevron Station.

On Oahu, Honolulu's prices for Regular Unleaded is less than a penny off its all-time record set nearly three years ago.

Triple A Hawaii says Honolulu drivers are now paying $3.59 a gallon for Regular Unleaded.

Tattoo artists bill moves forward in Senate

A measure designed to expand the venues in which licensed tattoo artists can work will have its final committee hearing in the Hawaii Senate Committee on Ways and Means on Friday.

House Bill 2283 was drafted by a group of tattoo artists, with the help of state Rep. John Mizuno, D-Ft. Shafter-Alewa Heights, who wanted to stage Hawaii's first-ever tattoo convention called Hawaii Inked.

State law requires that all tattoos must be done by a licensed tattoo artist in a permitted shop, in effect prohibiting any type of tattoo trade show or convention from taking place in Hawaii.

The group is pushing for legislation that would create an exception to the law. The original measure proposed allowing the state Department of Health to issue 14-day certificates of registration to tattoo artists to do their work in an educational or trade show setting. Their intent is to promote the emerging tattoo business in Hawaii as well as educate people on its cultural history and related health and safety issues.

However, the latest version of HB 2283 repeals the original tattoo artist licensure procedures on the books and instead would require all tattoo artists to register with the state Department of Health every year for a fee. Initial registration would cost $75 and annual renewals would be $7.50.

It's a change that concerns both the tattoo artists and Mizuno, who say registration would actually soften Hawaii's stringent licensing standards, which is not what they want.

"It's almost like a one-size-fits-all thing," Mizuno said. "You don't have as much oversight with just registration and there's an unintended consequence that there may be unqualified artists practicing. So, where's the oversight?

The present temple stands on the exact spot of the former temple building. The new structure was built in 1970 by traditional Japanese carpenters with the help of our members and friends.

Inside the temple, five outstanding Buddhist paintings adorn the walls. These were painted in 1974 by the renowned Japanese artist Iwasaki Hajin.

The 12-feet tall copper and bronze statue of Amida Buddha is the largest of its kind outside Japan. It was cast in Kyoto, Japan, from 1967 to 1968, and weighs approximately three and a half tons.

According to Buddhist legend, when Sakyamuni Buddha entered Nirvana, his body was cremated at Kusinara. Seven of the neighboring rulers, under the leadership of King Ajatasattu, demanded the ashes be divided among them. At first, the king refused their demands and a dispute ensued, threatening to end in war. But a wise man named Dona intervened and the crisis passed. The ashes were divided and enshrined in eight great stupas in India. The ashes of the funeral pyre and the earthen jar that contained the remains were given to two other rulers to be likewise honored. Because of the enshrinements, followers came to worship and pay homage to these stupas, also called pagodas, which later became a symbol of the spiritual image of the Buddha.

At Lahaina Jodo Mission, this bell is rung eleven times each evening at 8 o'clock.

The average price in Wailuku reached $3.943 on Friday, the highest price in AAA's Daily Fuel Gauge Report. At several stations, it was a penny shy of $4. In the remote coastal town of Hana, it was around $4.40 a gallon.

Four Waters of Maui Removed From Private Control

HONOLULU, Hawaii, March 21, 2008 (ENS) - One of Hawaii's longest-standing water disputes was settled this week when the state Commission on Water Resources Management decided in a unanimous vote to designate four waterways on the island of Maui as a "water management area" under the state Water Code.

The designation, effective once public notice is published, puts the commission in direct control of these waterways, known by their Hawaiian name, Na Wai 'Eha - the Four Waters.

Since the plantation era, two companies have controlled most of the stream flows of these four waters - Hawaiian Commercial & Sugar, a division of Alexander & Baldwin, which operates one of the last sugar plantations in Hawaii on Maui's central plain; and Wailuku Water Company, formerly the Wailuku Sugar plantation, which sold off all its former agricultural lands for development and is now in the business of selling water.

The commission's ruling came on a petition filed in December 2006 by public interest environmental law firm Earthjustice on behalf of two Maui grassroots community groups, Hui o Na Wai 'Eha and the Maui Tomorrow Foundation.

The four waterways - the Waikapu, 'Iao and Waiehu Streams and the Waihe'e River - are perennial streams that traditionally supported a native aquatic ecosystem and the largest continuous area of taro production in the Hawaiian Islands.

The groundwater of the 'Iao Aquifer, which underlies much of four waters area, serves as the principal source of drinking water for Maui.

But large-scale diversions by sugar plantations have drained the streams dry for over a century and continue unchecked despite the modern decline of the sugar industry.

According to the ruling, water use from now on will be allowed only by commission permit.

"For too long, a few companies have treated Na Wai 'Eha stream flows as their private property, while public instream uses have gone ignored," said John Duey, longtime resident of the 'Iao Valley and president of Hui o Na Wai 'Eha.

"Now the Water Commission will be able to monitor and regulate water uses and ensure they are truly in the public interest," he said.

While present users of the four waterways have a one year window to apply for "existing uses," by law those uses are not grandfathered in.

During the commission's multi-step process extending over a year, numerous parties expressed their strong support for state control, including the Office of Hawaiian Affairs, and the former and present mayors and water directors, and the entire County Council of the County of Maui.

"We're proud to be a part of this collective effort to achieve the first-ever designation of streams for public management," said Irene Bowie, executive director of Maui Tomorrow. "Hopefully this will lead to similar progress for the many other streams and communities statewide needing proper stewardship."

The decision to designate Na Wai 'Eha is the first time the state has designated streams as a water management area. Previous designations have concerned only groundwater.

"Designation is a critical step in public management of the precious waters of Na Wai 'Eha," said Isaac Moriwake, an attorney with Earthjustice. "But it is only an initial step. We must remain vigilant to ensure that the many community members living in these valleys are empowered to have their water needs recognized, and that the precious waters of Na Wai 'Eha are used justly for the benefit of all the people, not just a handful of private interests."

The projects are:

• Waiehu Mauka Rental Housing (Lokahi Pacific), $1.2 million. Lokahi plans to develop 40 affordable rental units in seven multifamily buildings on a 6.5-acre lot in Waiehu. Total cost is estimated at $6.9 million. Projected start date is March 2009.

• 901 Lower Main St. (Habitat for Humanity), $1 million. Forty affordable homeownership apartments would be developed on land owned by Habitat for Humanity at 901 Lower Main St. in Wailuku. Total cost is $16.7 million. Projected start date is January 2009.

• Wailuku Wahine Hale Transitional Housing (Lokahi Pacific, Women Helping Women), $1 million. The money would go toward the purchase of a building at 1592 Mill St., which would provide transitional housing to low-income women leaving Women Helping Women’s emergency shelter or island homeless shelters. Total cost is $1.5 million.

• FLC Affordable Rentals (Family Life Center), $1 million. Family Life Center would purchase 10 apartments in the Harbor Lights Condominium and operate them as affordable rentals. Total cost is $1.5 million.

Kamaile Sombelon, executive director of Lokahi Pacific, said the goal for the Waiehu Mauka rental project was to provide housing for “the lowest of the low” — people at the bottom of the income scale — with rents around $600 per month.

BOOK TITLE: "To Honor Mau: The Voyage of the Hokule`a Through Micronesia"

A book signing /reading for “To Honor Mau: The Voyage Of The Hokule`a Through Micronesia” is planned from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. on March 15 (Saturday) at the Gallerie Ha at 51 North Market Street in Wailuku. There will be a reading/performance of a portion of the book. Some of the proceeds from the book will benefit the Hokule`a, along with the sale of photographs of the voyage.
The book, “To Honor Mau: The Voyage Of The Hokule`a Through Micronesia,”(in English and Hawaiian, with more than 50 photographs, published by Pacific Renaissance Press) is a historical account of the journey of the double-hulled sailing canoe Hokule`a to honor its first wayfinding navigator Mau Piailug. The Hokule`a crew helped to deliver the double-hulled sailing canoe Alingano Maisu as a gift to Mau on his home atoll of Satawal in 2007 – a journey of some 4,000 miles through an area known for its typhoons.
In 1976, using native wayfinding methods, Mau served as the navigator on the Hokule`a voyage from Hawaii to Tahiti. The voyage of the Hokule`a, built along the lines of a traditional Polynesian sailing canoes constructed mainly of wood and rope, helped to support the assertion that native Hawaiians were capable of navigating thousands of miles of ocean before European explorers. The historic Hawaii-Tahiti voyage in 1976 has sparked a renaissance of native voyaging, with several double-hulled vessels already built and being built in Hawaii.
The book describes the hardships and dangers in the voyage, the difficulties faced by islanders such as global warming, and the Pwo ceremony on Satawal conducted by Mau inducting native Hawaiians as wayfinding navigators.
The story is written in lyrical prose by Gary T. Kubota and was interpreted into Hawaiian by Kaimana Barcarse. Kubota, a newspaper correspondent, was a crew member on the Hokule`a through a major part of the journey. Barcarse, a Hawaiian Studies instructor at University of Hawaii-Hilo, has been a crew member on the Hokule`a. James Hadde, whose photographs are on the cover and inside pages of the book, was a crew member aboard the escort vessel Kama Hele.
“The book celebrates the culture of Hawaii and Micronesia and the way they have grown to have a mutual respect for one another,” Kubota said.
“I didn’t know at the start of the journey that Mau had suffered years of criticism from some Micronesians for sharing wayfinding secrets with native Hawaiians 30 years ago. The journey last year helped to vindicate Mau. It took five years and thousands of hours to build the Alingano Maisu, and Micronesians including Mau’s son sailed aboard her on the way to Satawal. That says a lot about the Hawaiians’ respect and love for Mau. It also says a lot about the sea-going toughness and character of native Hawaiians.”

The proposal to ban plastic shopping bags

Seeking to end the flow of windblown plastic shopping bags across the Maui County landscape, County Council members joined a worldwide debate on use of the petroleum-based bags Wednesday.

Manufacturing the bags requires millions of gallons of crude oil annually, can choke sea life that mistakes the bags for food and blow out of landfills to drape the tree limbs and roadsides, he said.

Discussion of the issue included a review of efforts elsewhere to deal with the problem of plastic bag litter. Last year, San Francisco became the first United States city to issue a complete ban. Countries from China to Ireland and Australia have instituted plans to either phase out or tax the bags.

WAILUKU — The County Council Policy Committee on Tuesday recommended authorizing the purchase of a site for a county morgue.

The county has already budgeted $2.9 million to buy the 8,324-square-foot, two-story Clinical Laboratories of Hawaii building on Wili Pa Loop, with additional funds available for renovations.

The county’s existing morgue is a small, cramped facility housed at Maui Memorial Medical Center.

“We outgrew it a lotta years ago,” said Maui Police Chief Thomas Phillips.

Council members rejected former Mayor Alan Arakawa’s request for $4 million for the morgue project in 2006 but approved it when Mayor Charmaine Tavares made the same proposal last year.

The item is expected to go before the full council for first reading March 7.

It looks like lenders, landlords, insurance companies and employers aren't the only ones interested in credit scores these days - now the health industry is getting in on the act.

Credit industry giant Fair Isaac is working with Healthcare Analytics and Tenet Healthcare to create a new MedFICO score. This new credit score is intended to judge a person's likelihood of paying their medical bills and could debut as early as this summer.

Understandably, the new score is already raising concerns from consumer advocacy groups that fear it will be checked before patients are treated. They are afraid that people with low medical credit scores could receive lower-quality care than those with a higher MedFICO.

E-cycling event will be held this Saturday
WAILUKU – Computers, televisions, stereo systems, cell phones and any electronic product with a circuit board can be “e-cycled” Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the War Memorial Stadium parking lot.

Participants can also investigate a reuse site, where working electronic gear will be given away as part of the e-cycling event supported by Maui County and managed by Habitat for Humanity.

The electronics recycling project is intended to keep the gear that contains toxic but recyclable metals out of the county landfills. Equipment that can be reused will be repaired and given away or donated; obsolete or unrepairable equipment will be shipped to an electronics recycler.

An e-cycling day will be held for businesses and agencies with large loads of equipment on Friday. The Saturday event is for the general public with small loads.

WAILUKU-- Ground will be broken Wednesday for the Market Street Improvements Project, Maui Mayor Charmaine Tavares and the Department of Public Works announced Friday.

The $6.448 million contract was awarded to Diversified Machinery Inc., and will include constructing stamped concrete pavement, resetting basalt curbs and constructing simulated basalt curbs, installing drainage facilities, installing new roadway signs and pavement markings, landscaping, roadway lighting and streetscapes.

Notice to proceed is set for Jan. 28, 2008 with an anticipated completion date of Jan. 29, 2009.

The groundbreaking ceremony will be held Wednesday, Jan. 23 at 10 a.m. at the gravel parking lot adjacent to Iao Theater. The public is advised that the gravel lot will be closed from 6 a.m. to approximately 1 p.m. to accommodate the ceremony. Parking will be available in the municipal parking lot across the street. WAILUKU » Maui resident Brad Falcon, who won $260,000 on NBC's "Deal or No Deal" on Wednesday night, said he plans to use some of the money to start a nonprofit humanitarian organization and help his parents pay off their medical bills.

Falcon, 37, who works as a remodeler, said he also wants to take his wife and children on a vacation to Greece.

"She's always wanted to go to Greece," said Falcon, the father of three children.

Falcon said the money comes in time for him to also buy furnishings for his new home in Waikapu.

He said he and his family are still amazed about his good fortune.

"We're just having this dream," he said.

Falcon said his mother, Donna Swayne of Oahu, has been working to support herself and his father, Roger, who suffered a stroke.

He said he feels blessed to be able to help them out financially.

Falcon said he plans to start a nonprofit called Hawaii Matters that helps families going through tragedy.

Falcon said the road to winning was a long one and started in early March, when he made a video about himself and filled out an 11-page application to be on "Deal or No Deal."

He said he went through numerous interviews for about seven months before being selected as a contestant.

To give him moral support, the producers flew in his family, including his parents and sister, Tisha Lehfeldt, and her husband, Jason, of Oahu.

"I believe dreams can come true, but you've got to make them happen," he said.

Toyota grant will help Heritage Hall in Paia

WAILUKU – Heritage Hall has received $10,000 from Maui Toyota to assist with the building of two cultural resource centers and a multipurpose hall in Paia.

Damien Farias Sr., owner of Maui Toyota, presented the donation to Dolores Bio, Heritage Hall board president, and Alfred Boteilho Jr., a Heritage Hall board member.

Heritage Hall will be developed in Paia to provide two cultural resource centers, one for the Portuguese and the other for the Puerto Ricans.

The resource center will include collections of old and historical items, accessibility to genealogy records, dual-language-learning programs and Internet access.

There also will be a multipurpose hall for community use.

Maui County has awarded nonprofit Heritage Hall a $300,000 grant for planning and design.

During its current developmental stage and capital campaign, Heritage Hall is being housed at the J. Walter Cameron Center.

WAILUKU » The Hawaii Supreme Court has overturned a decision to grant a water permit to a major landowner in West Molokai, raising questions about future development and the impact on residents and businesses in the region.

Justices struck down a decision by the state Commission on Water Resource Management in 2001 that allowed Kukui (Molokai) Inc. to take a little more than 1 million gallons a day from a well in the island's central area.
